Nodding yes and no

When did your DC start nodding yes/no or answering yes/no questions? My DC is 19 months old and says/nods "no" while she's pushing away something she doesn't want but is not yet answering my questions or nodding "yes". I'm not sure when to expect this?

my ds is almost 20 months and it seems like he is just getting the nod yes. still -- not sure when he nods if he is doing it b/c it feels different and "fun" or he is really saying yes!! but absolutely -- seemed to grasp the no shake before the yes nod!

My 20 month old shakes his head no and says "yeah" for yes. He's been doing that for about a month. Prior to that he would shake his head no and say "yeah" at the same time. Took a bit to get him to figure out which is the way to get what he wants!
