Grass fed beef

Anonymous
I have bought a few steaks in the past from Whole Foods, but their stuff is expensive.

If you buy them, where do you go to get them?

I'm allergic to corn, but love a good steak. I just don't want to pay an arm/leg for one.

Thanks!!

Farmer's markets? Farm Co-Op such as Pollyface Farms?

If you have the freezer space, buy a quarter or half cow, it's cheaper in the long run. Google "grass fed beef" in your state or nearby and find somone that sells in bulk.

West Wind Farm does this, and this is the right time of year to order it. They will also sell you smaller amounts.

Just make sure that the people you order from advertise it as "Grass Fed" and not "Grass finished" big difference.
Grass fed is they live off grass their entire lives. Grass finished is they are fed the standard commercial diet (processed feed) and then for the last few weeks or maybe months they eat in the pasture.

Berryville Farms has delicious meats that are grass fed. I had a chance to visit their farm and they love their animals. They sell at quite a few of the farmers markets in Takoma Park, the district, and Va.

Thanks for supporting us farmers!
