Need grilling advice

Ughh, I made a big mess last night in my grill. I first tried using a grill chef's pan. I think I made the mistake of not heating the pan up before putting the shrimp in it. They came out more steamed than grilled. For the salmon, I put it directly on the grill grates and it fell apart. I left the grill on high for several minutes to burn it off. Any other tips on how to clean up the mess? Is burning it off and using a grill brush enough?

Anyone ever use one of those grill chef pans with the holes in the bottom?

just crank it up and let it burn off, i use that type of pan for grilling veggies, works great

High heat to burn off, then canola or other sturdy oil to season grill like you would a cast iron skillet. Long handled grill baskets (oiled) can help with shrimp and fish steaks. Bundle asparagus with water soaked twine or skewer with water soaked bamboo or slap those puppies on a hot grill after tossing with olive oil and salt. enjoy! A grill in DC is like an outdoor oven. year round uses

We grill our salmon on cedar planks. Delish. Just be sure to soak the planks first.

We also use those pans. Yes, next time, be sure to preheat and and put some oil on the shrimp.

I agree with the planking. The plank not only adds flavor but cathes some of the drippings. Can get expensive if you buy them at a hardware store or Wholefoods. http://www.barbecuewood.com/StoreFront.bok has them listed at a really good price.

You should probably let your husband do it.
