Food book recommendations!

Hi everyone -
I love reading about food and am seeking some new reading recommendations.

I'll start by recommending: Tomatoland and The Feast Nearby

Blood Bones and Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton. A really unique story of how a woman becomes a chef. The chapter about her parents' outdoor lamb roast was magical.

I really enjoyed The Man Who Ate Everything. There's a sequel too, which is The Man Who Ate Too Much, or something along those lines. Both are hilarious and informative.

"The Apprentice" by Jacques Pepin
"The United States of Arugula" by David Kamp
"Tender at the Bone" by Ruth Reichl

Love this topic - I adore food related books too!

Animal Vegetable Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
Second the Jeffrey Steingarten recommendations (The Man Who ate Everything) and the David Kamp (United States of Arugula)
Ruth Reichl's books
Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain
The New Yorker has a great compilation of many of its terrific food articles

These are on my list of "to-dos"

A Tiger in the Kitchen - a memoir of food and family
Born Round - Frank Bruni
The Dirty Life - on Farming, Food and Love
Eating Animals - Jonathan Safran Foer

I have read and second: Anything by Michael Pollan (Although I like In Defense of Food best), Ruth Reichl. I love Animal Vegetable Miracle. I truly enjoyed Farm City by Novella Carpenter about her adventures in Urban Farming.

Not strictly a Food book, but I love it anyway - French Women don't get Fat.

I agree with the recommendation of anything by Ruth Reichl. Read her books and you will not be disappointed! Also, "Heat: An Amateur's Adventures as Kitchen Slave, Line Cook, Pasta-Maker, and Apprentice to a Dante-Quoting Butcher in Tuscany," by Bill Buford, "My Life in France," by Julia Child, and "The Making of a Chef: Mastering the Heat at the Culinary Institute of America," by Michael Ruhlman.

Second this!

It's old, obviously, but I love My Life in France by Julia Child.
