Does anyone know the best company/website to hunt for apartments? I am looking for a 1 bed in NW for around $2000 and I can't see to find a thing! Is that just too low? Very discouraging ...
How about padmapper.com? Or you could try some of the big apt real estate companies - lots of their buildings are listed in those apartment guides in the racks outside most major metro stations. $2k should be okay for a 1 bdrm. GL!
$2K should be enough for a 1 bedroom -- it won't get you into the best buildings in the best locations, but it should get you a good building in a good location. The problem is that the market is just really tight right now: lots of buildings simply have nothing available. So finding something is hard.
craigslist is the best site for apts in dc. good luck. it really depends what neighborhood in nw--1 bed rents range from $1200 to $2400.
zillow!

Apartmentshowcase.com lists 28 one-bedroom rental properties for $1500-$2000 in northwest dc. You can narrow it further by zipcode (eg, 20008 has 11 properties in that price range).
