Outdoorsy types, would you buy a used kayak from Craigslist?

I am not expert enough to immediately know from a moderate inspection whether there will be a problem with seaworthiness, etc. there would necessarily be a certain degree of faith involved with such a transaction.

OTOH, I cannot afford a new $900 kayak from REI or LLBean.

I purchased a used kayak from CL without any issues. Good thing because I've used it once in the past year. I inspected it but didnt have the owner take it out.

I meant look for holes. A skirt thing in good condition - no holes or shreds.
I buy all kinds of things from Craigslist, eBay, consignment, etc, so I would do it.
