two schools in a district

Anonymous
We are going to be new to the Chevy Chase area. The house we are looking at falls into a district with two public schools

Somerset Elementary and RockCreek Forest Elementary.

Will we have a choice where we send our son? and I have heard much about somerset elementary anyone knows about RockCreek?

Need to know soon, if someone could kindly clarify.

Thanks.

Have you tried plugging in the address at http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/planning/BoundaryInformation.htm ? Rock Creek is a lot more ethnically and economically diverse. It also has a language immersion program. Both Rock Creek and Somerset feed into Westland middle school and Bethesda Chevy Chase high school.

The website gives me Chevy Chase ES which starts at grade 3. He will be starting Kindergarten. The house listing listed somerset and rockcreek for K-5.

I'd call:

"The boundary information line allows users to call MCPS and receive the school assignment for a specific address. The boundary information line is open weekdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The phone number is (240)-314-4710."

P.S. If the website says Chevy Chase ES (3-5) then you may be looking at Rosemary Hills for K-2. But do call MCPS to be sure.
