Hello,
I am 32 weeks pregnant and I am looking for doctors that support a VBAC in the DC metropolitan area. I know that time is not on my side, but if you have any suggestions to some docs that I can call, I would really appreciate it! Thanks a bunch! Yvonne |
Good for you for realizing you need to switch. It's never too late.
Do you want an OB or a midwife? Home, birth center or hospital? For OBs in a hospital, call Tchabo at VHC or Ayoub at Loudon. For hospital-based midwives, check for openings with Whitney Pinger at GW or the DC Birth Center midwives (who catch VBAC babies at WHC, although you can labor at the center). If you're interested in working with a CNM or CPM at home, there are several midwives to call, but that will depend more on your location and specific needs. Happy interviewing! One more thing -- if you haven't already, reach out to ICAN. There are chapters in Northern Virginia and DC and even if the regular meeting is passed, you can still get great info and support from the leaders and members through their websites and/or Yahoo groups. |
I have heard Dr. Tchabo is the go-to person for VBACS. I know that WISDOM midwifery does them too, but at 32 weeks you are probably too late to get into the practice. ![]() |
Not the original poster, but can you tell me more about Ayoub at Loundoun? |
Another CNM option is Midwifery Care Associates in Rockville (deliver at SGH, backed up by Simmonds OB practice). I switched to them at 32w, although not for VBAC reasons. |
