Arlington Condo or Apartment Buildings?

Anonymous
I am a Marylander and have little knowledge of Arlington. However, my job just moved to Georgetown and we are looking to move closer to work. We know about neighborhoods in Bethesda that we are interested in, but don't really know much about Arlington. We would be looking for at least a 2 bedroom place that takes dogs (we have a labrador). We really would like to live in a safe, family friendly area that has good schools. We would be looking in the $2000-2600/month range for rentals before utilities. Does anyone know of any apartment/condo/TH neighborhoods that might be worth checking out? I'd like a commute of under 25 minutes as much as possible. Thanks!

If you want to stay in the District, I'd imagine you could probably find something up Wisconsin (near the Cathedral) that is not metro accessible for that price range. It won't be updated, but still in the District.

Where do you live now?

It can be hard to find a building anywhere nowadays that takes big dogs. For the DC area to be so dog friendly, it can be tough.

Many people love the commute to Georgetown from Arlington. Personally, I HATED having to go over a bridge to get to work and we recently left Arlington for Maryland (we prefer Maryland anyway).

You might be able to find something in the Rosslyn/Courthouse area of Arlington, right across the bridge from Georgetown. Good schools, too. Rosslyn/Courthouse is not as "cool" as Clarendon or Ballston, but it's closer and the rents might be cheaper than Clarendon. (and you could walk or bike to work on nice days, or hop the bus at Rosslyn Station.)

Thanks for the advice PPs. We are in Potomac, MD right now. We like Maryland a lot and would probably ideally prefer Bethesda around the Sumner area but I have noticed that not a lot of places open up around there that would fit our needs. So, I thought we might look some in Arlington. Does anyone have any suggestions for condos in the Rosslyn/Courthouse area that might be what we're looking for? Thanks again for the help!

The Market Common in Clarendon allows dogs and has some units in this price range.

Look at the Equity properties, they allow dogs. There's a dog park in Clarendon.

The Palatine in Courthouse allows dogs...most of Courthouse proper also would be grouped as Courthouse-Clarendon btw not Rosslyn-Courthouse. Many of these apts are 5-10 mins walk from the Clarendon strip.

9:48 PP - I used to live about midway between Rosslyn and Courthouse, which is why I tend to group those two together. Used to walk downhill to Rosslyn metro in the mornings and walk downhill from Courthouse metro in the afternoons.
