Faucet /sink for kitchen remodel?

Anonymous
We've checked Lowe's and Home Depot but I was surprised at how little they had (particularly undermount sinks). Any other places with a good selection to choose from? Preferably looking for someplace in Fairfax County. Or would we be better off buying somewhere online?

I bought a kraus sink and ticor sink online from overstock.com. way cheaper than franke and blanco.
that came from recommendations from gardenweb forum:

http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/kitchbath/

go to the bottom of the page and enter your search criteria in the box in the middle of the page (not the search box at top). Tons of discussions and advice.

There is a also a good place in rockville that has a good selection, prices and knowledgeable people. Sorry don't know virginia that well. I think HD and Lowes are terrible for sinks and faucets. here is the place in md:

Plumbing Parts Plus Inc. Tel: (301) 881-1001
12172 Nebel Street, Rockville

finally i think amazon has great prices and some good reviews. i bought one of my faucets there.

We also bought a Ticor sink and love it. Got it from Galaxy Tool Supply.

Consider one of those faucets where you can pull the end off to use as a sprayer. I installed one of those during my kitchen renovation and I LOVE it. Barring that, you might want a faucet with a very high arc so you can easily fill stockpots, etc.

Grohe Ladylux line and Kohler Vinnata dual spray faucets that i would recommend checking out.

I would not buy anything from Home Depot or Lowes. We installed a Kohler faucet from HD in our guest shower and it broke after about 20 uses. The plumber came to replace it and pointed out the plastic piece inside that had broken. My cousin (who works for Home Depot Corporate) told me that Kohler, Grohe, etc sold there was different from the products by the same brands at other high end stores. They basically make cheaper Big Box Store versions with plastic parts, then they make higher quality, more expensive versions they sell at higher end stores.

When renovating our kitchen, our contractor sent us to Ferguson. The faucet was about 4 times as expensive as our old HD Blanco faucet, but it's so much heavier and nicer.

Love my Hansgrohe faucet. Paid way too much for it, but I love it. I have a Blanco sink, but my contractor procured it. She didn't really suggest other brands.

We bought a nice one from Lowe's, a Moen and it has a lifetime warranty. It has the long neck so easy to fill large pots and it pulls out too w/ option to use sprayer. We love it. Had it since March. Came with a nice soap dispenser that we had the granite co. cut a hole for as well.

I would search Gardenweb forums for "finished kitchen". You will see lots of faucets in people's recent remodels. For me this is the best way to see different faucets in context. People on the gardenweb forums often post exactly what model they used. If they don't, I have had much success with contacting other forum members and asking questions. The Kohler Vinnata is very popular. We were considering it, but after seeing it in photos, we decided it was too big for our island sink set-up. The finished kitchen blog also has lots of photos.

Check out www.Faucet.com. We bought from there when we redid our kitchen and was so pleased (and overwhelmed!) with the choices.
