This is for the family room. I have a hunter green chenille couch and chair. Off-white walls (BM Linen White) and dark cherry floors. I need to get new window treatments and an area rug. It is a very small space so I think I need something solid (planning to go to a carpet store and get carpet bound). I'm thinking of off-white for the rug to brighten things up. What should I do for the windows? I'm thinking beige drapes but would that be too drab? Any help appreciated -- thanks!
I'd go with tan or beige . . . I think that would be warm. Maybe cream, but you wouldn't want it to look like you tried to match the off-white rug and failed.
Since no one is chiming in -- I think what you're thinking of sounds nice, but boring. I would suggest adding some accents in a contrasting color. Pillows or vases or something. Real Simple has an article on color this month showing dark green with pink accents. Not my style, but it gives you the idea. I guess the traditional advice is to look at the opposite side of the color wheel for the accent color. My favorite right now is blue with lime green accents.
