I was one of the early buyers in my condo complex and discovered once my neighbors started moving in that the building has absolutely no sound proofing.
I worked with the building developers and was able to have insulation blown in to my walls ceiling and floors, and for two of my adjoining neighbors this solution suffices -- we all understand that sound really carries in the building and we work together to minimize noise. The neighbors beneath me, however, are younger, like music with a lot of bass, have loud arguments from time to time and are really just generally louder than most. I've had issues with them for over 2 years and lived with it, and we've finally come to a truce of sorts. But their noise still bothers me, and they can now hear my active 2 yr old DD running and jumping. I've laid down rugs and bought a mini trampoline for the jumping, but there's not much I can do when DD is happy and excited and runs across the floor. Any one have ideas on what I can do to improve soundproofing without costing a bundle? I'm open to all suggestions, for floors and walls. TIA! |
