stretch marks and cream

Is expensive stretch mark cream worth it? I know stretch marks are primarily genetic, but is there a lotion or cream folks recommend that will help prevent them? Thanks.

Hi. Unfortunately, you will either get stretch marks or you won't irregardless of creams or anything. Being married to a doctor, I was very dissappointed to learn this truth. So defintiely don't get anything expensive. However, your tummy will be very itchy, so make sure you have some good lotion to rub on it. Good luck.

Well, there may be a genetic component to developing marks, but if/how many/where you get them is obviously not genetically determined. There are other factors. And how well hydrated your skin is is one of them. I have been using 'Mustella 9 months' mostly because it made me feel better to use something specifically formulated for pregnant woman. Not cheap, but not terribly expensive. I have a ton of marks from my teen years (and I am a very thin person) and none so far from pregnancy (38 weeks). So I think it is worth trying...

I used Tummy Honey Butter on my belly, mainly because it was itchy. I thought it smelled better than the rest of the lotions out there. It may be just a coincidence but I didn't get any stretch marks on my belly but I did get them on my thighs.
