Affordable Wood Floor Polish/ Buff?

We just bought our first house and we're excited (and slightly overwhelmed). Since the house is empty, we thought it would be a good idea to get the wood floors polished and buffed before we move our furniture in. I got one quote (sight unseen) for $1600 for the entire house. It's a three bedroom, 1,600 sq ft, with wood floor throughout except the kitchen and bathrooms.

I have no idea what this service would cost and that seemed a little high to me. Does anyone have an idea of how much a job like that would cost. Does anyone have any idea of where we might be able to get a cheaper service? Thanks!

If you're not refinishing, and simply want a wax and buff, you can do it yourself. Use old fashioned Johnson Wax and rent a buffer. Great exercise for your arms!
