Our sick, old cat threw up on our floor - must have been in the middle of the night so it sat for several hours before I found it and scrubbed it clean. Initially I was glad he didn't do it on the rug but now there is darkish stain on the wood floor where the throw-up had been. No amount of scrubbing has removed it. What can i do?

Sorry, I have no advice because my cats have done the same thing (and worse), and I know how gross it looks. My guess (and really, it's just a guess) is sanding and re-finishing are the only things that will work, but I hope for your sake that's not the case. |
I hate cats. |
This means that the protective sealant on your wood is beginning to fail.
If the finish still maintained its integrity, the cat puke (or soup or child pee or coffee) would not seep through and darken the wood. The offending liquid would bead up on top of the impermeable layer of finish. So you need to think about re-coating your floors. |
Pour white vinegar on top of it. Let it dry and soak into the wood. The stain will lighten and likely go away. |
