| Anyone have a colonoscopy while breastfeeding? I am supposed to have on but I have a 7 week old and I do not want the prep to interfer with my supply or pass through into my milk. My GI doc is not being very helpful. Any info is appreciated! |

Wow. I would put it off, if possible, for a few more weeks. And then give formula for a day or so and dump whatever you pump. You'll also have to take a sedative during, and you certainly don't want that in your milk.
Good luck. |

Have you talked to your pediatrician about it? NExt best would be your OB I think. I would also be worried about supply dipping, but honestly my gut would say that it shouldn't take a hard hit. The better question is whether you have/can pump to cover you for 24 hours or so while doing prep the night before and procedure the day of? The sedative is a good thing I hadn't thought of that PP mentioned - you aren't under, but not med free either.
I have had a colonoscopy before, but not while BFing - just my two cents from thinking about the experience. |
