Carderock, MD - Any sense of community?

Anonymous
Moving to DC area for my husband's job and he has previewed houses. He really likes the Cabin John and Carderock areas. They are convenient for his commute (Clara Barton parkway), which I think is his main criteria. Based on what little I know, these areas seem isolated, esp. Carderock. Are these areas family friendly at all?

Yes! Wonderful area. Lots of great families, schools are top-notch (Carderock Springs ES, Pyle, Whitman), beautiful wooded surroundings, close to downtown, etc. The schools anchor the community, just as in most places. It's a gem of a place, you will love it.

What does that mean??

Not the PP but his/her really sick response refers to the notorious murder of the Bishop family in the 70's that took place in Carderock Springs. Dad was a state department employee who bludgeoned his wife, mother, and three young boys to death in their beds after learning he was being passed over for a promotion. Packed the bloody bodies in his car along with the family dog, drove the bodies somewhere in the Carolinas and burned and buried them. He diasppeared and was never captured.

OP, don't know what its like to live in Carderock but I seriously doubt that this 30-plus year old incident has any impact on the current community.
