Please help me and DH settle an argument:
Person A thinks that Person B should dry feet first before stepping out of the shower onto the bath mat. Person A wears socks and must step on bath mat while in the bathroom, thus getting socks wet, and consequently getting annoyed. Person B thinks that drying feet before getting out of the shower is not necessary as the bath mat is there to absorb water after exit from the shower. Who is right? Person A or Person B? |
B is right. Why have a mat if you're going to dry your feet first? |
I don't dry my feet before stepping out of the shower. That's what a bath mat is for.
Why not wait to put on your socks until you are ready to put on your shoes? Or wait until you're finished in the bathroom? |
Bath mat exits to absorb water off of person with wet feet who has just gotten out of shower |
I'd also say Person B. |
person b. no question. |
Person B.
The bath mat is for water. Even if you dry your feet, some water is going to get there. Person A should know not to step on the bath mat. Person B better not be getting water on the rest of the bathroom floor. BUT -- if you have a tiny bathroom, and the bath mat is the only place to stand, I'd have to go with A. If you cannot agree with each other, you can always get rid of the bath mat completely, and each person takes responsibility for drying the tile after their shower. |
I agree with your position on A vs. B. But your socks solution is problematic. If you are a family that takes off your shoes by the door, then your shoes are not nearby when you are getting ready for work. So every time you forget something in the bathroom, you would have to take off your socks to go back in. |
If you get the bath mat wet, hang it up to dry! Don't leave it all wet on the bathroom floor. |
More details from OP, in case it makes a difference: Bathroom is small. Mat is one of those fuzzy rug-like ones, not made of towelling. We do take our shoes off at the door. |
You need a toweling bathmat, and it should be hung up on the side of the tub after use.
That's what the Apostle Paul says. |
You need to get a towel-ish mat for Person B to use when he/she gets out of the shower that can then be hung up to dry out of the way. Then the fuzzy rug stays dry and person A's socks, too. |
Agree with the other posters - person A should be allowed to stand on the bath mat with wet feet. Then Person A hangs the bath mat over the side of the bathtub to dry so that Person B doesn't have to stand on a wet bathmat, which is gross. ![]() |
Person A needs to wear slippers.
We have a tiny bath and use a fabric bath mat so it gets picked up and placed over the edge of the tub after use. |
I think drying your feet before you get out of the shower is silly; but I also think you should get the towel type bath mat and hang it up after use |
