How soon after failed frozen embryo transfer that resulted in chemical pregnancy can you try again?

Anonymous
I just went in for my ultrasound today after two positive pregnancy tests and there was no sac the bloodwork then confirmed that the pregnancy was over - I have 5 weeks and two days. This was after a frozen embryo transfer. Does anyone know how soon I can try again? For most people in this process, did your cycle resume quickly (ie I was taking progesterone and estrogen. Thanks for any advice. Sad today.

I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you this time. I've been in your shoes and know how it is to get excited when betas are going up and then to have things stop going forward. 5 weeks is enough time to have just started to let yourself believe.

I haven't done FET, but I have had chemical pregnancies from IUI's and a miscarriage from IVF. My RE always said that it was fine to start the next round of protocol as soon as the Beta was back to negative. With a chemical, that should happen pretty fast. If you ovulate on your own, you might have to wait until you get your next period naturally or, if not, you will probably take provera to bring on a bleed and then start again.

Good luck.

i'm sorry that you're going through this.

i had a failed FET (negative beta) and it took about 3 weeks for my period to come and then another 6 weeks for the next period (and prior to the FET i had 28 day cycles). Apparently the depo estrogen that i took (IM injections) really messed up my cycle. Some protocols use vaginal estrogen which apparently "hangs around" for much less time.

My doctor at SG wanted me to get the withdrawal bleed period (the first one following failed IVF) and then one more period before I could start IVF again. I started bcps for a new IVF 3 days after the second period and went on to have a successful fresh cycle.
