anybody use the formula for older children (12 mos. +) instead of cow's milk?

I'll be retiring my pump soon, and wonder if anybody has chosen to use the "toddler" formula instead of switching to cow's milk.

TIA

I did for a while because it has more iron (dont remember which brand) in it than cow's milk and my DD does not like meat. That was our only reason. Why are you hesitant about cow's milk?

I wish that I did. When we used cow's milk, my dd became so constipated, that we are still working with that issue, age 5. Milk is WAY over rated.

OP here - don't really know why I'm hesitant about cow's milk. It just seems like such a sudden switch, and does seem like the formula does have things in it that cow's milk doesn't (iron, additional vitamins).

Perhaps I'm just being swayed by advertising?

No, don't feel swayed. Do what you think is best. It does have more vitamins. Or do a half and half mix.

I had a free sample of the toddler formula that I didn't want to waste, so I did the 1/2 and 1/2 as a prior poster mentioned. I think it helped ease the transition to solely milk. It also gave me time to buy more iron fortified cereal! If you are comfortable that your child is getting a balanced diet (including iron, which is not in whole milk), then I wouldn't sepnd the money on the formula.
