Mosquito Squad

Anonymous
We live in Vienna and have tons of mosquitos in the yard which makes it difficult for the kids to play in. Has anyone used the Mosquito Squad service? If so, what has your experience been? The "natural" product they have doesn't seem as effective so I was thinking of using the regular stuff.

I've posted in other threads about this, but I'll answer again. We started using them this year (the regular stuff, not the "natural" one), and it has been wonderful. We couldn't even open the door without having mosquitos come flying in, and now we can actually be outside for basically as long as we want without a single bite. It is worth every penny.

OP - We go to Vienna Aquatic Club and they use them there. It's awesome!

Any idea how much they charge? Obviously it depends on yard size but I'm just lookin for a ballpark idea.

DH took care of it, so I'm not 100% certain, but I think that the entire summer cost around $700, and we have your standard 1/4 acre lot. But we got started in May - if you start now, you may want to just pay by the application. The first application is the priciest ($150? or so, I think). And they come every 2-3 weeks.

Why are you talking about this in January??? Are you a Mosquito Squad Commander?

They will come back to spray again if it doesn't work the first time.

Mosquito Squad works, but don't call them until you have mosquitos in your yard. They came (due to a misunderstanding) and sprayed in April. We did not have mosquitoes in April.

With the warm non-winter we have had, the flea larvae and mosquito larvae is going to be like a plague in AU Park. I have been a sense of panic thinking about a steaming hot summer here where everyone travels so much but few care much about making sure there is no standing water on their property. Millions of tiger mosquito lava can thrive in a teaspoon of water. I hope people will use Mosquito Squad! Also please throw Bt dunks in the sewers on your block or in your pond. I usually cannot even stand to be outside for five minutes from June to October in DC because of the mosquitoes.

I think you need to calm down.

We use the garlic-based product, which isn't as effective as the regular spray but I like that it's totally nontoxic. I think they offer discounts if a bunch of neighbors all get the service. The more people near you use them, the better the effectiveness.
