PreK programs in or close to downtown Bethesda

My daughter attends a daycare close to my workplace in downtown Bethesda. However, she is going to be 4 this fall and will be just missing the cutoff for kindergarten by 1 day for next year. I would, therefore, like to get her in to a preK program in downtown Bethesda as she is really bored with the daycare where she has attended since infancy. What are some good preK programs I could look into for next year. I missed the boat in finding a good nursery school and just kept her in daycare this whole time for convenience sake and a bit of laziness on my part. Now that she is at an age where I think her school is really important, where should I look? Any and all suggestions for a good preK in this area are greatly appreciated!

If you would consider a Catholic School, Our Lady of Lourdes has a pre-k program. They're located right on East West Highway, a couple of blocks from Wisc Ave. I know people who send their children there and like it very much. http://www.bethesda-lourdes.org/

Several nursery schools in the area have good programs (but not all-day care). Bradley Hills Nursery School is one. Bethesda Country Day School might be a good option for you (it's a few miles up Old Georgetown Road near the YMCA).

If $ is not object, I'd look into StoneRidge Academy and the Harbor School.

Would you prefer to send her to K? If so, why don't you contact the county and find out if she can waive in this year. I do know one family who did this in MoCo, so it must be possible. Their child's birthday is at the end of September. Or consider a private K.

PP here. D'oh, she's only 4 this year, maybe I could read. Still, see about waiving her in for next year if you think she's ready. Also, maybe try Ohr Kodesh. It's not necessary to be congregation members or even Jewish, although they do teach about the religion. Lourdes might be a good option although when I toured they seemed to have a very large class size. Also a little chaotic b/c some kids are PT, some are FT but all are in the same classroom. Then the FT kids go to aftercare with all the big kids which I was a little nervous about. Family Oneness is all day and I hear really good things-only con seems to be it's pricey.

The Pre-K at Lourdes is really good. The teacher is excellent and very professional. It is truly a nurturing place.

I heard that the Pre-K teacher has left at Our Lady of Lourdes. Is that true?

I heard the same thing. Anything on that would be appreciated.

Why don't you call the school and find out.

FYI I think the Edgemoor site is a mixed age classroom (say, 3-5), but Leland is not.

DD attends OLOL. I'm happy with the Pre-K and hear good things about K and 1. Apparently 2 is not that great, the teacher was an aide in an early education classroom and is now teaching 2.
