backsplash or something like it in a rental

Anonymous
hello folks:

we are in a new rental and aren't allowed to make any major changes to our unit. i can see that the paint in the kitchen area by the stove and sink is going to get sort of grungy. any creative suggestions for what to do that won't get us in trouble with the management company?

tia!

Is it an apartment complex or something you are renting from an individual? Often, if what you want to do will be considered an improvement, an individual landlord will allow you to do something like that as long as they approve the plans first. It might be worth asking.

it's a complex. we've been told no painting or wallpaper...

Before we installed the backsplash in our house I bought one of those large stretchy plate hangers and used it to mount one of the glass cutting boards behind our stove. It worked great to keep any splatter off the wall and I could change it out seasonally or if I got bored with the pattern. Just a small nail hole in the wall that was easily filled when we prepped the wall for the permanent backsplash.
