Can you please tell me what your "realistic" car-commute time from Kensington (20895--near Antique Row) to downtown DC is?
What time do you leave your home in the morning? What time do you pull into your garage downtown (near Metro Center)? How is the commute back up Connecticut Ave. (or some other route) in the evening? If you take the train, how reliable is MARC service? Thank you! |
As far as MARC goes, getting in is usually just fine, however getting home is spotty |
The commute up Connecticut Avenue to Chevy Chase Circle is a breeze in the evening. I can literally make it in 8 minutes from Woodley Park if I hit all the lights. It doesn't work that way in the morning, to my eternal frustration. I usually go through the park in the a.m. Average time is 37 minutes, regardless of what time I leave. |
PP here. Meant to add that, in the evening, after Chevy Chase Circle, I cut over to the back roads for the final trek to Kensington. Can take 10 to 15 minutes. |
PP, what back roads do you take? |
I drive from Plyers Mill and Georgia to 17th and M every day and it usually takes me 30-45 minutes in the morning depending on when I leave and 40 minutes home each night. That's going straight up 16th to Georgia.
Based on earlier remarks, I may have to try Connecticut because it seems like it might be a faster option in the evening. |
Where in downtown do you go? Dupont vs. PA Ave can make a big difference. |
Usually about 35-40 minutes to Farragut North, add 5-10 to Metro Center depending on time of day. Standard deviation is high - some days can take closer to an hour. Never done it under 25 minutes, even on a summer Friday. |
