Is the Target Boycott Really Effective?

Boycotting doesn’t have to be pure. You can also minimize to effect change. Her sending you probably means she won’t buy more than the things she can’t get elsewhere, so in that case it’s effective.

I’m 100% boycotting Target, but I’m grossly minimizing Amazon.

Since this boycott went into effect, the pay in her videos has significantly decreased because her hours have significantly decreased. She consistently had 35-40 hours and now the past 2 videos I've seen, she had 26 and 29 hours. This last video included budgeting out her tiny paycheck and looking for another job. The boycott is definitely working. It's just sad that it also hurts the workers.

I feel badly for Target staff.

Of course Target is taking money and hours away from them rather than firing the corporate idiots who screwed Target over.

For the first time (since getting my RedCard in 2009), I have had two months of $0 on my statements. I thought I'd miss it and I do not at all. This upcoming Kate Spade collab is pretty gross - I don't know who would want to buy that cheaply made junk. You can get KS at TJMaxx and every consignment/thrift store.

You could also give them to Doorways or other charities that need ways to help clients settle into new homes.

It's like buying off charity's Amazon wish list. I don't shop there for myself, but I used to do that for other people. I'm not going to go Tsk tsk at refugees

Np, and I agree that it was initially challenging to purchase cleaning supplies until I realized Home Depot is an equal or better solution. They have bulk sizes and the same products and offer same-day delivery. I'm done with Target. I've found other avenues for every product I previously purchased there, so the draw to go back has completely disappeared. I haven't stepped foot in Target since January 14.

I love that you’re trying but swapping out Target for Home Depot is laughable. You might as well stop at hobby lobby and chick-fil-a while you’re on your way to Home Depot, then maybe send a check to the southern Baptist convention in case you accidentally skipped any ultra conservative businesses on your shopping trip. Are there no small business or locally owned markets in your area that sell cleaning supplies? No local grocers?
