Range w/ double oven?

Anonymous
Instead of a wall oven and cooktop, I am contemplating a range w/ double oven to save space. Does anyone have one? Any advice regarding the smaller oven on top or on bottom? Brands?

I had a range with a double oven, but it was about 50 years old, so I can't really recommend modern brands. It was ok, but I really do prefer wall ovens (whoever is baking doesn't get in the way of the person at the stove).

I don't know if it would work with your space, but in my last two houses, I have gotten a double oven/convection/microwave combo to save space, and it works great. The top "oven" is a microwave that also works as a convection oven, and the bottom is a convection oven. It works great. We use the microwave about 95% of the time, but when we have a dinner party or whatever, it's great to have the extra oven.

We got a Kenmore Elite with a small top oven and larger bottom (convection or regular) oven a couple of years ago and I LOVE it. We use the top oven for everything and it heats up SO fast for getting something into the oven when arriving home with hungry kids. I use the bottom whenever I have people over, both have cooked very evenly for me (electric, not gas).

In our last house, we had the Wolf 48" wide model. It had a big oven on the right and a small one on the left. I LOVED this setup! For most cooking, we used the small oven and it preheated very quickly. I miss that stove . . . .

We got one when we renovated our apt. Can't remember specific model, but gas with small oven on top. Loved it and really miss it. And was glad the small oven was on top - thar was the oven we used most of the time.

Have an Electrolux with small oven on the bottom. I guess I might prefer to have the small oven on top, but I wanted the Electrolux for the BTUs on the powerful burner, the fact that it has five burners, and the glide-y oven racks.

If our space had allowed double wall ovens and a cooktop, I'd have preferred that.

we have one as well, although I can't remember the brand, but it's electric. LOVE IT. Top oven is a toaster as well, which is huge since I don't have too much counter space. As the PP said, it heats up very quickly.

Thanks to everyone. For those with the smaller oven on top, is the bottom oven big enough? Does it pass the "turkey" test? I do a lot of cooking and worry that I wont have room in 2 smallish ovens when I am making larger items.

NP here. I have one too - absolutely love it and I have done big turkeys in the bottom. However, that bottom oven is pretty much on the floor so not great for your back and hard to get big things in and out without burning yourself. So if you are doing new construction/reno and can fit one, I would get a double wall oven. If not, this is a great alternative.
