What on earth justifies such policies? Every year in August, before school starts, I have nightmares for a couple of weeks about some lunatic walking into my children's school and starting to shoot. When they get their classroom assignments, I breathe a sigh of relief if they are away from the outside doors, and vice versa. Yes, I know it's some of kind of PTSD related to reading about one massacre after another, but so what?
Why do we let ourselves be terrorized this way?

According to the above-linked article, the NRA appears to be intent on putting firearms in the hands of mentally unstable people. If the imam of a mosque did this, he would be called a terrorist.

You have nightmares for weeks? You realize the odds of this happening are infinitesimal, right? Why not worry about REAL issues that impact your child, like having a helicopter parent or a neurotic mother?
