Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
We have family in town and would like to take them to eat in a good restaurant.... our car does not fit everyone so a place close by would be ideal. It has to be somewhat child friendly because we have a toddler. Should we just pick them up (with two cars) and bring to eat in Reston Town Center, or maybe Tysons?

Reston Town Center, seriously? I love Big Bowl but it hardly seems worth the drive from downtown DC.
Try DC Coast or Brasserie Beck. Or be adventurous and try any number of restaurants in the Penn Quarter. Oyamel maybe? Jaleo? Zaytinya? It really depends what you are looking for in terms of price, type of food etc. |
The Lincoln on Vermont (right around the corner from the Madison) is good.
18:17's suggestions are where I would send you without kids -- but they really change the equation. With kids I would try pJ Clarkes at 16th and K which is walking distance from the Madison.
If it's bearable in the weather you could do an outdoor table at Sirocco (good Italian) on McPherson Square a few blocks down 15th from the Madison. I would not try to manage kids at an indoor table there, though, unless they're all very well behaved -- it's small, tight spaces, and pretty quiet.
02:01 again here -- the restaurant's name is Siroc not Sirocco -- darned iPad auto correct feature!
We ended up eating in the hotel and we got there just as the storm was coming! The food was pretty good actually and we could talk and catch up. Thanks for the suggestions.
