My 16 week ultrasound revealed a choriod cyst (fluid) in my baby's brain. My OB assures me it will go away on its own since my nuchal screen for trisomy 18 came back 1:10,000 and there are no other markers (baby is growing well, able to open her hands, etc.). Still, very disconcerting. Anyone with similar experiences have reassuring words to share? |
Sorry for the stress. We also had some markers (but different than yours) that turned out to be nothing.
If you want to completely rule out T18, you can still get an amnio. Good luck. |
yes, referred to as CPC. Very scary........we had them with our first pregnancy. They did go away eventually but it was a very stressful time. Google it, there is SOOOOO much info. |
We had one with my daughter and as the radiologist and my ob predicted, it disappeared at around 24 weeks. She is now 3 and half and absolutely perfect.

I had my 20-week ultrasound on Friday and they discovered 2 cysts on the baby's brain. They said that they would be very concerned about Downs Syndrome had I not already had CVS that verified that there were no issues. Even though the baby's growth is good and everything else looks normal, I can't help but be a little nervous about it. But they assured me that the cysts are not uncommon and typically go away before the baby is born. |
OP here. Thanks for all your responses. In response to 19:53 - I have googled it and know the basics, but I'm trying not to do too much of that because the internet can be a scary place (and I have a tendency to freak myself out). So I was just looking for some encouraging experiences from others. I have the results of the first nuchal, which were great, but not the sequential nuchal. No one has said anything about an amnio.
I hope all goes well for you 9:14 and thanks to everyone for all the kinds words. |
