Blake Lively- Jason Baldoni and NYT - False Light claims

I hope she loses it all. BL is a terrible person.

I had a minor part on the Gossip Girl set during the back 9 of season 1. It was a 3-episode arc or was supposed to have been. Minor part players never interact with the main talent unless they have a speaking scene together. BL and I did not have that but I was in a shot behind Penn Badgley while she was speaking to him. We did a few takes then took a break. A PA pulled me aside and said they wanted to rework the shot and put me behind BL instead of Penn. They did a few more takes. BL was off her game and said she needed a few. We took a break. BL was talking to the producer, Michael Fields, and the next thing I knew, I had hair & makeup on me making changes. I asked one what was going on and she said: "Blake doesn't like anyone prettier than her so we need to ugly you up a bit." This was during season 1! The show was just starting to really pick up traction. The cast were just starting to get hot with the public. The show had just picked up its full order not too long before that episode. Her ego was way too big too fast! Anyways, I got uglified and put back behind Penn Badgley. Then I got demoted to an extra and an extra was moved up to my part. I still got my pay but I've never liked her since.

So there’s this extended interview that JB did with Access Hollywood (you can find it on YouTube) about six months ago. He’s clearly trying to throw props to Blake and not let on that there is this huge rift because this was recorded the day after the premiere when they made him and his family view the movie in the basement.

But at about the 16:30 mark he is asked about Taylor Swift’s role in casting of young Lily and he says he “brought in her casting tape to Blake AND TAYLOR…and they were both like ‘Yes! Her!’ —And that’s a true story!”

But the news article (TMZ?) today insists that Taylor only met Justin that one time at RR and BL’s place. And she had nothing to do with the movie.
Seems a weird thing for JB to lie about (but also weird that he followed the statement with “and that’s a true story!”) Obviously someone repeated the story to the Young Lily actress though because she revealed that someone told her that Taylor Swift handpicked her.

So either JB and maybe BL are lying about Taylor being there and choosing or approving of young Lily casting or Taylor’s sources are misinformed.

Her hands are allllll over this movie and it seems that Taylor assisted with the takeover of the film—whether she intended to or not.

I suspect that the SA claim was a necessary last resort that Blake and Ryan intended to use to try to wrestle the movie rights away from Baldoni. He wouldn’t sell and they knew the contract between Baldoni and the book author had a morality clause such that an SA claim could void the contract.



Wow. I wouldn’t be surprised if they colluded with Hoover to buy the next book movie rights from her. This could be why Hoover has backed Blake and still seems to be backing her after all the public backlash. If so, I hope they get caught and face jail time.

That anecdote is super odd because it makes it seem like JB is lying, either in that interview about Taylor being involved in the casting, or in his lawsuit about his interactions with Taylor. I'm inclined to think the anecdote about the casting is a lie (some kind of "lore" that they decided to pretend was true for some reason) because the texts with Lively in his lawsuit really seem to indicate he was a bit overwhelmed/intimidated by meeting Taylor at Lively's apartment.

That's just odd.

But his story in the interview is consistent with Lively's (and the actress playing young Lily's) that Taylor had a role in casting her. And it's inconsistent with how he describes his interaction with her in his lawsuit.

I don't think it wholly discredits him but it sounds like maybe the movie wanted to create this story that Taylor helped cast young Lily for some reason and he played along with it? It's weird.

So I imagine it’s one of three things:
1- he was lying about this and he knows it’s lie …and Taylor and Blake did NOT view the tape and say “yes! Her!”
Or
2–he brought the tape to Blake to view, and BLAKE reported to him that she and Taylor watched it together and they both love this girl…so he genuinely thinks Blake showed Taylor….and that’s why he repeated it. (Could be that BL told JB this just to name-drop and he thought it was cool and so HE was the one who told the young Lily actress “you were handpicked by TS.”—and now it’s lore)

3–he was in the room with both Taylor and Blake and showed the tape to them …and Taylor’s people are lying.

I think in the end this will turn out to be pretty close to the truth. Blake needs to stop the bleeding and settle asap.

I think if the story is true then most likely it was an extremely casual interaction. Like perhaps he brought the tape to Lively's apartment and Taylor was around and Lively said "hey let's look at the video, tell me if you think this actress could play a younger version of me" and Taylor watched it and was like "yes she's nailing your look and mannerisms, I buy it."

That's not really Taylor being involved creatively in the movie. That's her offering an opinion on whether or not an actress could believably play a younger version of her close friend. It's like a game you might play at a dinner party -- who would we cast as a young version of everyone else? That's not the same as Taylor being relied upon for casting. But because it's TAYLOR SWIFT it becomes a story people tell. If it were some random non famous friend, no one would care and it wouldn't get repeated in interviews.

I do think that the IEWU marketing probably liked making any connections they could between the movie and Swift because her fan base is such an obvious market for the movie. I wouldn't even be surprised if Sony identified this story at some point when crafting the marketing strategy and put it in notes for Baldoni and Lively in interviews to highlight that because an interview that mentions Taylor is more likely to get social media pick up.
