Hi all
After spending too much on by DD Munire crib two years ago and not being happy with the quality of the furniture. The finish is chipped on the nightstand and dresser already with not alot of heavy wear at all. I am trying to find other brands to look at. I do like the convertible cribs and will need to buy another dresser and nightstand anyway so I am looking for other quality brands of furniture. I am not interested in the Ikea cribs though I can understand their appeal. Any ideas of brands I should look at? Thanks |
We liked sorelle and they good great reviews in baby bargains. |
Op here
@22:53 -- do you also have sorelle dresser? Do you find having three drawers and a cabinet useful? |
I would read Baby Bargains (newest edition just came out) and Consumer Reports. Then I'd go to Great Beginnings, where I've found the service to be fantastic and where I know they don't work on commission, to get advice. Good luck! |
Op here - thanks all. I have the older bb book which is how I found munire (an "a" rating). It was also recommended by the staff of great beginnings where I bought it...
So I guess I was looking for Parental reviews of their cribs Thanks |
Have you checked out Natart and other brands that make all wood furniture? We loved a Natart set at Great Beginnings -- the wood was beautiful, including very high quality, smooth drawers (with dovetailing) -- but the cribs were approx. $1000 so we went for something else.

We're happy with our Stanley Young America crib. Also thought the customer service was great at Baby2Teen in Manassas (the owner helped us). |
Another vote for Baby Bargains. Don't think we bought anything for DS#1 without it. Took the book to the store and used the handy dandy chart to evaluate products. Best $20 spent! |
Very happy with a used Pali crib |
We have the Stratton design by Westwood. Sturdiest thing I've ever owned (it doesn't BUDGE) and the finish is still perfect even with DD climbing all over it for 2 years. |
We have the Straight Up crib and Jenny Lind dresser by Land of Nod and love them! All the furniture is made in the USA and is very sturdy. The customer service at LON is excellent. Crate and Barrel sells some LON furniture out of the Tyson's store. |
Land of Nod. It's middle of the road in price range, and the quality and cuteness is very good. |
^^Sorry for the crappy grammar. I'm freakin' tired, ladies. |
Funny I had the same experience buying a very expensive Munire with #1 and while it was nice, by #2 vowed I owuld not do it again. I read Amazon reviews and checked with the BB book, and ended up with a Graco Stanton from Walmart.com for a fraction of the cost. I really like it and when my sister asked me which was the olderr crib, I knew that it looked pretty good. Hope that is helpful! |
I think Munire has come down in price quite a bit. I remember seeing Munire prices in Baby Bargains as in the $500-600ish range, but we purchased a Munire crib at Great Beginnings recently for $330. They may have compromised quality to achieve lower costs though.
If you're looking for something nicer, I think Natart and Romina are brands to check out. |
