I wish Ward 3 could secede

We pay all the taxes, have the best schools, lowest crime, population boom, etc. DC needs us and with all the corruption with this city council and mayor's administration I wish we could get more for all we do for this city.

Last time I checked, I was paying a pretty hefty share in taxes biatch. You do not pay all the taxes. You simply pay a higher rate of propery taxes for your house than someone with a house of similar size and dimensions located in a different ward. If however you are renting and not buying, you don't even pay that. So you are full of caca. If someone with similar incomes and investments as yours happens to reside in one of the other seven wards, you are paying in the same tax bracket.

Your point re: if one is renting, one does not pay property taxes is brilliant BTW. With a brain like yours, it's no wonder you can't and shouldn't afford our homes, schools & streets.

How is it a hatefest? By wanting better government and more accountability for my tax dollars? Not wanting a a legislature filled with corrupt members? Harry Thomas, Barry, Kwame Brown, Alexander all corrupt to the core. This has nothing to do with hate.

Please. Moco resident here. All wealthier areas around here subsidize the less affluent areas. It's as it should be. Do i bitch about my taxes? yes. Do I wish I paid less? yes. Do I feel extremely fortunate that my parents were educated, provided for me and gave me opportunities that enabled me to live the way I live today? You bet. Do I wish my tax money was spent in a more sensible manner? Of course. We all have our corrupt/inept politicians. Yes, DC has an unfair share of these. Maybe if DC residents had the RIGHT TO VOTE that would help a lot.
