Where to buy Ceramic Tile

Anonymous
I have a small tile job that a friend will be doing for me.

What is the best place to purchase tile? It is a small project - a floor of around 110 Sq ft. And it is in our basement - so I am not looking for a great selection of designer style tiles.

Thanks!

I'm not sure where you are located, but we bought our ceramic tiles at Porcelanosa on Rockville Pike. While in general they do specialize in designer tiles, they have a clearance rack (which our contractor told us about) where they have a small selection of nice tile for as little as $1 per square foot.

We're doing a remodel right now, and for basic tile our contractor recommended Daltile (they are online; their website lists dealers in the area).

They have some fancy stuff, but some of the really basic square tiles at 70 cents a square foot. The website doesn't give prices, but it gives a relative price (cheap, expensive, etc).

I would pick out some stuff you like and either call the company or find a dealer. Much more reasonable than Architectural Ceramics or other show-room type tiles.

I've also just bought my own at Home Depot or Lowes in the past. Not a huge selection, but reasonably priced.
