is it too early to panic about plane ticket prices for labor day weekend?

we are heading to denver for labor day weekend. apparently, fares just went up considerably in the past 48 hours (round trip is now close to $500 rather than $300). Fare predictors say "buy" because the fare is expected to rise in the next seven days (they don't offer predictions beyond a week out). should I just wait it out or bite the bullet and book? any advice would be much appreciated!
