I have twins who just finished kindergarten. There is a pretty extensive report card in MoCo, and they both got "P"'s on every last thing (which means proficient). So, with a sample set of two kids who I know are not perfect, I have to wonder if there is any real evaluating going on here or if all kids just pass everything. I know this comes off as a brag post, but I'm really just curious about this. TIA! |
No idea, all "P"s here too. |
My K report card had N (needs improvement) S (satisfactory) and O (Outstanding) |
To 23:15 - Did your student receive all three of those ratings, or just all "O's"? |
A mix of grades..my son got N's in handwriting through 5th grade...which is appropriate! |
P just means proficient--it's not like the equivalent of getting all A+'s or something. It means that your children are meeting the kindergarten standards. |
Our county has I for independent. P for proficient, E for emerging and N for not yet (just kidding). I guess it means for needs improvement. |
No, some kids get Is. Mine (who has some social skills issues that we've been working on with her teacher and with a psychologist) got several Is in the social development portion of her report card. |
Mine got I's in art, PE and the category for "self-regulation." The rest P's. |
P means that they met K standards in that area. Congrats, your twins met K standards in all areas. Would you prefer the teachers give incorrect "grades" and say they didn't meet standards, just to prove the kids are actually being evaluated?
In K, it's more of a developmental report than grading. I wouldn't get too overly concerned or impressed over it. |
All P's here - EXCEPT for ability to stick to task (or something like that) - for that he got an I (working on it). Not surprised about it - he is proficient in everything from a K perspective. I would have expected nothing less. (And he does have slight attention issues when he's bored.) |
