If you started a fed job while pregnant or shortly before becoming pregnant (had been in the new job less than a year before giving birth), how did that go for you? Would you start a new job when you did or would you have delayed your job search? I'm contemplating trying to get a new job while trying to conceive. I currently don't work for the feds, but would be applying for fed jobs. Thanks.
By the time you clear all the hurdles and start the job, the kid will be potty trained

OP here. It seems to vary a lot--one of my friends started a new fed job 2 months after he applied (from outside the feds).
I did, I started a Fed job about 8 weeks before I delivered my DD. I immediately signed up for the medical leave bank and used 8 weeks full pay. I came back and have been there for almost 5 years now. Worked out good for me.
I accepted a new position the same week I found out I was pregnant. I did tell them about it before starting. I miscarried a few weeks later. It was helpful that they knew I was pregnant when I needed time off for the miscarriage. And, I was glad I had not missed out on a great job on top of the pregnancy loss.
