Anyone still holding more than one spot for PS/PK?

Anonymous
If so, when do you think that you are going to make up your mind about which spot to accept?

I released a PreS spot at AppleTree Columbia Heights earlier this week. The reason I waited - I was waiting until I got the open house for MV.

I am still deciding between MV and IT.

Why can't you decide? Both schools will be great for different reasons. We like the Spanish with MV. The IT teachers are more experienced. For us, early childhood is about discovery and exploration. MV is a little too specialized for our liking and will be defined within a Spanish and green context since that is their charter. But that works for lots of families. Find the right fit for your child.

we're enrolled in a DCPS and a charter. I know we need to make a choice. The plan is to do so this weekend.

come on folks..let it go! We are going into July, and the decision isn't really that hard. What logistics?? you live where you live, and the school is where it is, it won't be changing by the school year. BTW, I am not saying this because I am on a waitlist, I have been registered at my charter since May!

I'm on a waitlist, and I would sincerely appreciate it if some of the parents who are holding two spots would let one go. It's hard to describe how unsettling it is not knowing what school your child will be at in August. For those of you with two spots, consider that there are moms (and kids) out there who weren't as fortunate as you. We simply ask that you do whatever you have to do (burn a candle, see a psychic, do eenie-meenie,minie, mo...) to make your decision as expediently as possible.

To the PreS IT parents, can you tell us why you can't make up your mind?

Two reasons. The aftercare program isn't set up yet. It's in the works but nothing solid. Second reason is lack of a permanent location. Can suck it up and do Brookland for a year, and the next location could be better, or it could be worse. And if it is a lot worse, even if we stick it out, a good number of people could drop out and the school could lose whatever momentum it builds over the next year.

So it is a difficult choice for us. We were offered both spots recently off the wait lists and they both have very different pros and cons are hard to weigh against each other. I understand others' frustration with being on wait lists, I was there just recently too. We are still on waitlists for schools we would take over either of our current options. But this is an important decision that needs careful consideration, so that's what we are giving it.
