Two-Night Beach Stay

Anonymous
We would like to go to a nearby beach for a Thursday and Friday night in July. Any recommendations on a decent place to stay with a baby that doesn't require a longer rental? Thanks!

Dewey? We've stayed at the Atlantic View hotel a few nights, and I think it's a 2 night minimum. Nice beach. Get an oceanfront room with a view. So, when baby's napping in the room, you can both sit out on the little deck and share some wine!

Nice free breakfast, cookies at 7:30 and an easy drive to restaurants, etc. on Rt. 1.

The Beacon Motel in Lewes is pretty reasonably priced and has large clean rooms.

We stayed at the Blue Water House B&B in Lewes last year for just a couple of nights. It was perfect for what we wanted - nice big room, with a huge closet where we put the pack & play, short walk to the beach. They even scrounged up a rocking chair for us! That said, I don't remember the breakfast being anything special.

I personally wouldn't pick Dewey with a baby-- it is mainly a singles crowd and it has a lot of bars and can get noisy at night depending on where you are staying. Rehoboth is right next door and is much more family-oriented with a nice (but small) boardwalk.

I'd recommend staying in Rehoboth and hitting the beach in Dewey. The beach at Rehoboth gets insanely crowded in-season; it's like those pics you see of beaches in China, with everyone packed like sardines. At Dewey, half the people are sleeping off the booze from the night before and the other half are already day-drinking at the Starboard, so the beach is usually pretty empty. Bring quarters for a parking meter. (Signed, longtime Dewey/Rehoboth fan)
