Bad dye job--HELP!!

I usually go to a salon for natural honey/golden highlights with brown single process.
I decided that I didn't want to spend a fortune since my gray grows in so quickly these days and went to Hair Cuttery this afternoon. I figured it would be better than doing it myself.
Well, I walked out of there BLOND...no brown left at all, really. I like blond hair but NOT ON ME...I am meant to be a brunette. Each time I look at myself in the mirror I actually gasp a bit. I truly didn't realize the extent if it until I got home and DH and DS were rather speechless
I know I should go back and ask to have it fixed but I don't know if I trust her to do it right. I can't afford to go to a salon right now. Please tell me the chunky yellow licks will fade over time? Or should I buy something at the drugstore and fix it myself? Ugh.

Meant "chunky yellow locks".

First, count your blessings too light is better than too dark. Get a TEMPORARY color at the drugstore that will wash out after a few shampoos. And do a shade darker gradually until you find a color you like. And be careful, even temporary colors can last a while.

This has happened to me. I just got a brown natural instincts and left it in for a while. At least going darker is not as damaging than stripping your hair to go lighter. Just keep in mind that it might be a bit brassier than your normal brown color. Definitely don't do any "warm" colors. Look for descriptions like "ash brown" so that it is less red and more cool.

I'd go to a salon for this one. Seriously. Your blonde hair can become green if you do it yourself and it's not the right shade of brown.
