A beautiful dress for a Summer Wedding.

Anonymous
I need help, please. I have a wedding to attend in July and need recommendations for a dress to wear. I really need to look good as lots of old friends will be there. It's an evening reception at a country club. I don't like sleeveless dresses as my arms are not slender and toned. It's so difficult finding modern styled dresses with some sleeves even if it's cap sleeves. I'm in my mid 30s if that will help with your recommendations. Thanks.

Wear a sleeveless dress with a bolero jacket or a shrug. Looks great and will give you many more options for the actual dress.

Or with a pretty shawl/scarf type of thing that covers your shoulders.

Cap sleeves are much worse than sleeveless if you don't want to draw attention to your arms.

OP here. I think I agree with you. I just received a cap sleeved dress I thought I would wear to the wedding but my arms looked even bigger in them. To the other posters, thanks for all the ideas. More suggestions please.

I always give this advice but look at jcrew bridesmaid dresses. There are a huge amount of styles, fabrics, and colors and they are reasonably priced.

As for the poster who continuosly suggests boleros they are completely OUT OF STYLE and look tacky!!! Definitely get a pashmina or a great option is if you can find a crochet dressy short sleeve sweater some have sequins and look amazing with a dress. I have seen them at Nordstrom but you have to also be careful not to look tacky or like there is top much going on over the dress.

What is your budget?

I would prefer something under a $100 but can go up to $150. Thanks.

I would recommend Nordstrom's. Go up to the third floor where they have the special occasion dresses, and try on a bunch of different ones. You want to try lots of different designers because they all have very different cuts. I had to find a dress at he last minute for my brother's wedding when I was 12 weeks pregnant, and got a great dress there. I think the designer was Adrianne something. Oh, and most dresses were between $100 and $150 too.
