I'm 30 weeks pregnant and need to buy a couple new maternity dresses. As my belly expands, my hem lengths have risen, and I'm no longer able to wear my current dresses to work. Unfortunately, I'm having a very hard time finding dresses that fit at some of the local stores (Motherhood and Pea in the Pod). Pre-pregnancy, I wore a size 6/small and I'm 5'6" tall. Now, I tend to wear a size L to accomodate my huge belly. However, the dresses still tend to be too short for a professional work environment (e.g., hit me at the mid-thigh length) and a number of them are just huge in the shoulders/chest. I'm looking for something knee-length and would love to hear about dresses that fit small-busted women (I'm only a 36B!) Thanks! |
I'm tall (5'10"), so even though my stomach isn't too huge, I've also had a lot of problems finding dresses that are long enough to wear to work. The only place I found any were at Macy's. For some reason, they were couple of inches longer than anywhere else. |
I'm 6' and have had the same problem. I've found the only way around this is to find dresses that are ankle-length (check out Boden -- there are some very cute ones) and know that they will come up to mid-calf for me. I also don't buy anything unless it is at least 45" long, which is still above the knee for me but still works in my (nonprofit) work environment. A couple of dresses that I tried on at Pea in a Pod worked, and they were on sale too. Good luck! |
Depending on how fancy you need them - have you looked at Old Navy? When I was in those last two months or so, I lived in some knit/embellished dresses from Old Navy with cardigans. |
I went to H&M last week and found several long dresses that have a lot of belly room in them even in the non maternity section. I'm short at 5'3" but all of them require me to hem them about 2 inches so they won't drag on the ground. Might work for you? |
