transitioning to partial grey/brown when in have dyed blondish hair

| Id like to let my grey/brown hair grow in... but I made the mistake of highlighting a year or so ago. Then 6 months ago I tried to make the transition easier by getting my hair done brown (colored) so it would at least blend with the brown part of my hair as it grew in. It looked great but then it faded and I have my natural roots contrasting with the faded color. How can I tone down the yellow while not "wasting" the 2-3 inches of un-dyed hair thats already grown in? |

| I'd try a demi-permanent that matches your natural brown - something like Natural Instincts that washes out in 28 shampoos will give you temporary coverage and fade gradually. |

so it would wash out of my grey, too? thanks for the advice. anyone else try to grow in their natural color and like (or not like) a particular approach?
