Radian XTSL on long haul flight

Anonymous
I will be flying overseas with our 17 month old soon and would like to hear how others with the Radian XTSL found using it on the plane to be. I think she's too small for the CARES to be effective. I'll be flying with her alone, luckily on a direct flight, but I'm trying to make things as easy as possible. Did you use it rear or forward facing? If rear facing could the person in front recline their seat? The instruction manual makes it sound (not real clear) like you have to use the base if rear facing - is that the case?

Thanks

We have two Radian XTs for our kids in my car, but there is no way I would take it on a long haul flight. It is WAY to heavy to haul through the airport and I would be afraid I would break someone's arm if the steel clunked them in the airplane aisle. For travel, we have a Cosco Scenera. It is very light, but safe and soooo much easier to travel with. Installation is easy. You can pick one up at Target or WalMart for about $40. have always done forward facing, but you could easily do rear. Both of my kids have flown in them for short and long trips with no problem. The car seat is awesome for long-haul flights, because kids are more likely to fall asleep and they are more contained.
