Guess what, Big 3 parents?

Anonymous
I am a current student at a big 3 school, and I just got off the waitlist at an Ivy League school. And guess what... I smoke weed EVERY DAY. All through junior and senior years of high school, I would smoke weed. Bongs, joints, spliffs, vaporizers, edibles... everything. You could say I am a marijuana enthusiast.
You flabbergasted parents (and trolls [hypocrytical??]) must be reading this, thinking to yourself,
"Now just what the heck is going on here? I came to this website in search of threads that slander/shamelessly promote schools in order to help me deal with the insecurity I have from any DC's deficiencies. I came here to live vicariously through my daughter's/son's existence to quell my ever-still-existing feelings of inadequacy. I DIDN'T come here to read about some kid who smokes weed every day and still (allegedly) will attend an Ivy League school."
Well guess what.... you shouldn't worry, because this post is probably going to be deleted before you CAN read it. Well if you are one (and there ABSOLUTELY will be at LEAST one) who read this, consider yourself enlightened.
I apologize if this makes no sense. It made sense to me when I wrote it. And if you were to ask whether I was under the (horribly destructive, ultimately life-altering) influences of marijuana, I would answer that question with another question: Beamer, Benz, or Bentley?

Also, this is our generation:

^^^Crazy that he has earned acclaim from highly respectable adult periodicals and newspapers. AND he makes more money than >99% of the people in this country!!!

(((100% of this post is completely true, that's the horrifying part)))

Zzzzzzzzz.......

Dear child, I can assure you that your parents go before you always. Me? Smoked weed a lot. Would get stoned in the lifeguard office then go watch kids swim at an elite country club. My head lifeguard was the actual dealer in our school so as long as I blew him (usually in the guard office) I got my weed for free. And he turned out to be gay!

Flew through a top ranked school (like top 10, not Ivy, thankfully). Got a job on Capitol Hill and now am a prominent lobbyist with kids in......big 3 school.

You seem to think your parents don't know what is going on. I bet they do, they just probably don't care.

I guess this gets filed under the "been there, done that" category?

I love it when adults compete with kids about who is cooler. Very grown up.

I wasn't aware that young people today could write over 140 characters at and time and not use abbreviations. I call bogus.

OP, it's irrelevant to me whether you got into an Ivy League school or community college. The real problem is that you are smoking weed everyday and while you seem to be functioning okay now, some day it will come back and bite you in the ass. I suggest you look at your drug habits rather than waste time taunting status-conscious private school parents. You're not hurting us and you're not helping yourself.

What I want to know, my teenage friend, is how many of the recent trollish posts are yours? Are you the one who posted there is no redeeming value in public schools, ever? The poster on the General Discussion thread who claims to be a SAHM who sends 3 kids to private? Do you come on here regularly to keep the Landon/Sidwell sports/Gonzaga/StA bashing threads going?

C'mon, fess up, nobody will get mad. I'm just curious.

Wow, a real ivy league school? I should be so impressed. And real drugs? Wow.
Actually, your post makes you seem like a self-absorbed, resentful, spoiled brat. And I have no doubt there are many of those out there in high school, whether at a "Big 3" school or not. And "guess what?" right back at you, there were many of these in your parents' day as well. No news here other than the sad thought that your parents need to put up with you.

Signed,
A Harvard grad, since you seem to find that relevant

Alas, the Big 3 must not teach students to spell "hypocritical" correctly.

OP, to get an even bigger response, you could go to the MD and VA public school boards and post the same thing under the headings, "Guess what, Whitman parents?" and "Guess what, TJ parents?" Many of the parents reading your post probably don't send their kids to private school anyway.

Have your own parents noticed? Do they care?

My brother went to an Ivy and went on to law school, became a lawyer, and made a lot of money. He also smoked (and still smokes) weed every single day plus he has used a lot of other drugs. I think the weed eventually destroyed his mental/emotional functioning. He moved back in with my dad, stopped working, and can barely put together a coherent sentence in an email. He has enough money to live in my dad's basement for the rest of his life getting high, watching internet porn, and playing video games. I think the worst part of the marijuana abuse (and I am not against moderation if you can handle it) is that it seems to delay or even stop emotional development in teenagers. My brother is 44 but he is emotionally a young teen and will probably never advance any further. He is suicidal too. He simply cannot have a normal relationship with a woman. It's so sad it makes me want to cry. This is absolutely a true story.

Great, glad you are proud of yourself, now go along with all the other stoners, who will realize in a few years that your over priced private education and college education means nothing when waiting tables.

great values your family taught you

Is marijuana use more harmful than tobacco, alcohol and/or obesity?

Medical ... and not legal, religious or other sundry opinion please.
