Frozen salmon

I have a big pack of frozen salmon that's been sitting in my freezer since Feb 2011. I thawed it 4 days ago in the fridge. Do you think it's still safe to eat?

How does it smell? Does it smelly salty and like the ocean or have very little smell? Then it's okay. If it smells fishy and sulfury, it's a bit suspect.

Assuming it's fresh salmon, not smoked.

Fish generally only last 1-2 days max unfrozen....
