I was trying to multi-task the other night and I forgot I was cooking a pot of beans (from dry beans, so they take awhile). I completely scorched the pot of beans and now I cannot get my pot cleaned. It's a puerto rican style pot, a caldero. Any tips for getting out the charred bean residue? I've boiled a water and baking soda and it didn't do a thing to loosen the remains. I think I may have to toss it.

What is the pot made of?
Bar Keeper's Friend and some elbow grease will get just about anything off my stainless steel cookware. |
| I second barkeeper's friend. |
It's made of cast aluminum. It's one of those pots that gets better with age. I'll try the BKF, thanks! |
| soak it with hot water and vinegar overnight |
| Thanks everyone. After nearly a week of soaking and two boiling water to loosen the grit - I tried BKF. It worked like a charm. The pot has been saved! |
