Upscale (but not fancy) beach or lakefront destination?

Hoping to drive less than 4 hours. We have5days in July and are trying to find somewhere to go. We were thinking of Deep Creek or Cape May. Going with 3 kids, ages 8, 6 and 2. Would love to stay in a resort/nice hotel with a nicepool and proximity to either beach or lake.

Would be so grateful for any recommendations! TIA.
