home improvement topic

So many people are looking for recs for roofers, landscapers, etc... in the off-topic. Shouldn't there be a home improvement topic ?
Thanks for the forum.

I'm not sure if a forum is the best format, but I'll see if I can find the time to set up something similar to the Top Doctors list where people can make recommendations.

I have been thinking about this too. You might want to consider a home, garden, auto forum.

It is not just recommendations. Gardening is quite local when it comes to advice. Auto is important now. I have tons of questions about home improvement and so on.

Humm, for some reason I didn't notice the above posts until just now. I would love to add a forum for every possible topic but the current forum software is not good a managing a lot of forums. The list simply gets too long. There is also a request for a travel forum. I'll give both these ideas some thought, however. As for auto questions, I love cars. Post any car question in the Off Topic forum and I'll probably answer it.

That's what Angie's List is all about. Rather than try to duplicate their service how about a partnership between DCUM and AL where your members get a break on an annual membership in AL? They get new customers, DCUMs get a discount, and everyone's happy? They have a comprehensive consumer review process and screen submissions to help ensure they're legit. It's well worth the cost of membership IMO.

But this is not AL. I would like to see it on DCUM. Partly to get some "off topic" discussion about concrete issues as they relate to home and auto.
Auto will become an issue with the gas prices.
Home will always be an issue, with you know, the money pit.
