Looking in upper NW DC (west of the park). Thanks for your suggestions! |
Levine - we went in Arlington, but I believe there are more convenient locations. |
Has anyone used summer camps offered by Arlington public schools? My DD is in KG this year in APS, and I'd like to send her to some camps over the summer 08. When should we start enrolling? Do they fill up fast or is it easy to get a spot? How expensive? Are the APS school camps educational, fun, etc? Any info on non-APS school camps in Arlington would be great also. (other than Levine, which I see posted already) - thanks! |
Im thinking of Beauvoir and I dont think its that expensive like 375 or something like that |
My four year old attended Beauvoir's Summer Camp last summer and had a blast. He made new friends and enjoyed the fieldtrips on the Cathedral Close. Also, the swimming program was great; he swam everyday.
The aspects of the camp that could have been improved were the bag lunches everyday and the lack of off campus field trips. Beauvoir has a kitchen so I felt they could have offered additional lunch options (Turkey or Peanut Butter and Jelly everyday for 6 weeks (YUK)) DS had fun so I guess that is all that matters ![]() |
1. Check out CASA at Sheridan school.
2. Discovery Creek 3. re: 12-27, 21:02 post (are you still there?) ... Does Beauvoir seriously not have a "no peanuts" policy for 4 yr olds? You sent PBand J sandwiches every day? |
No I did not send PB and J sandwiches everyday. The camp provided lunch everyday and the options were PB and J or Turkey. |
I've actually heard negative things about the Beauvoir camp from two families that had kids there. Apparently the counselors are a very mixed bunch, and your experience will depend very much on the counselors your child has. Neither family would send their kids back (and it's only three blocks away from where we/they live). |
St. Columba's is wonderful, but they fill up quick. Sidwell has a nice program as well. And you might want to look at Lowell's summer camp too. |
Did anyone's child attend a WIS camp last year? My daughter learns a little Spanish at her elem. scool, so I thought it might be fun for her to attend WIS for a week or two. Do you think it will be worth it for just a week or two or will she need to do a longer session to actually learn any Spanish? Also, do you know where they swim?
