Do you put hot pots directly on your granite countertop?

In looking online, it seems that some companies say it is fine to do so and others recommend that you don't.

all the time. I think they have to put the disclaimer, just in case, but I've had different granite countertops over the year and have never had an issue. It would take a lot to crack or damage stone.

I do when I'm too lazy to grab a trivet, and have never had a problem. It really should be fine on stone.

We've had granite counters for eight years, and although I intellectually know you can, I've never had the nerve to do so.

I also iron on the granite instead of on an ironing board.
